Hema Hadiya Masieh is Founder and CEO of Groundswell Project, a peace and community resilience organisation. She focuses on human rights advocacy and harnesses the transformative potential of Bitcoin and blockchain technology to promote financial inclusion. In 2023, her organization began educating marginalized and refugee communities in the UK and beyond on using Bitcoin for remittances, savings, and livelihoods. Her work has expanded to countries across Africa and Asia, including The Gambia, Somalia, Kenya, Afghanistan, and Iran. Hadiya’s innovative approach aims to empower vulnerable communities through financial freedom and technological access. She has Mauritian and Ugandan roots.
